About The Position

Responsible for working with individuals who have experienced a traumatic brain injury as a Cognitive Therapist or Behavioral Therapist. The Cognitive Therapist works with individuals to develop and utilize methods that enhance cognitive functioning, assisting them through guided practice, skill development, and the use of memory aids. The Behavioral Therapist works with individuals to make desired changes, focusing on improving quality of life in the community by emphasizing the current environment, making positive changes, and improving self-control through procedures that expand skills, abilities, and independence.

Requirements

  • High School or GED required
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written, verbal communication skills
  • Must be organized, possess problem solving skills, and be able to multi task
  • Must have advanced analytical skills
  • High degree of sensitivity toward all people
  • Ability to effectively plan, coordinate and assist with intake process and systems
  • Attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • one year or more years of related experience preferred
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for learning and implementing all aspects of Minds Matter LLC philosophical principles.
  • Assists individuals to identify their needs and develop appropriate compensatory strategies to accommodate certain aspects of their brain injury.
  • Developing, with the consumer, techniques for enhancing consumers’ problem solving, memory, planning, organizational and processing skills.
  • Integrate employment, educational and independent living goals into therapy.
  • Work closely with the consumer and other team members to determine when goals are attained.
  • Provide services only as designated on each individual consumer’s authorized plan of care.
  • Educate families and caregivers about the consequences of brain injury and communicate with them about goals and progress as needed.
  • Document sessions with the consumer the day of the service and is goal driven, concise, factual, and clear.
  • Attend all weekly conference calls and webinars with licensed supervisors.
  • Establish and maintain a professional rapport with all consumers, co-workers, referral agents and representatives of other community agencies and services.
  • Promote public relations throughout the agency and community for the program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Provide care and maintenance for Minds Matter LLC issued iPad.
  • Maintain confidentiality of protected health information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Possibly serve as a consumer’s team lead, which entails being accountable for updating goal plans and team meeting history forms during the team meetings with progress, effectiveness of strategies, concerns, task assignments to team members, or changes to goals.
