About The Position

This role involves working with individuals who have experienced a traumatic brain injury (TBI). As a Cognitive Therapist, the focus is on developing and implementing methods to enhance cognitive functioning. This includes guided practice on tasks that improve cognitive functions, developing new skills for information intake, and utilizing memory aids and assistive devices. As a Behavioral Therapist, the focus is on helping individuals make desired changes to improve their quality of life in the community. Behavior Therapy emphasizes the individual's current environment, aiming to make positive changes while improving self-control through expanding skills, abilities, and independence.

Requirements

  • High School or GED required
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written, verbal communication skills
  • Must be organized, possess problem solving skills, and be able to multi task
  • Must have advanced analytical skills
  • High degree of sensitivity toward all people
  • Ability to effectively plan, coordinate and assist with intake process and systems
  • Attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • One year or more of related experience preferred
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for learning and implementing all aspects of Minds Matter LLC philosophical principles.
  • Assists individuals to identify their needs and develop appropriate compensatory strategies to accommodate certain aspects of their brain injury.
  • Develops, with the consumer, techniques for enhancing consumers’ problem solving, memory, planning, organizational and processing skills.
  • Integrates employment, educational and independent living goals into therapy.
  • Works closely with the consumer and other team members to determine when goals are attained.
  • Provides services only as designated on each individual consumer’s authorized plan of care.
  • Educates families and caregivers about the consequences of brain injury and communicates with them about goals and progress as needed.
  • Documents sessions with the consumer the day of the service, ensuring documentation is goal-driven, concise, factual, and clear.
  • Attends all weekly conference calls and webinars with licensed supervisors.
  • Establishes and maintains a professional rapport with all consumers, co-workers, referral agents and representatives of other community agencies and services.
  • Promotes public relations throughout the agency and community for the program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Provides care and maintenance for Minds Matter LLC issued iPad.
  • Maintains confidentiality of protected health information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Possibly serves as a consumer’s team lead, which entails being accountable for updating goal plans and team meeting history forms during team meetings with progress, effectiveness of strategies, concerns, task assignments to team members, or changes to goals.
