About The Position

The Coding Specialist 2 reviews electronic and written documentation and converts it into diagnostic and/or procedure codes. The coder ensures records are coded accurately and in a timely manner, and communicates with clinical staff to support accurate translation of medical record documentation using appropriate code selection, including ICD-CM and CPT/HCPCS. The role may assist with quality and productivity audits, data collection, and monitoring and reporting. Through efficient and accurate coding, the Coding Specialist helps ensure CentraCare is properly reimbursed for professional and/or facility services. The position safeguards patient privacy and confidentiality. This is a full-time, work-from-home position, scheduled for 80 hours every two weeks, Monday through Friday during daytime Central Standard Time hours.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Completion of college-level courses in ICD, CPT-4, and HCPCS verified through AHIMA or AAPC, or relevant experience in anatomy and physiology and medical terminology.
AHIMA or AAPC certification.
One year of experience in a medical office.
Experience in ICD-10 and CPT coding.
Previous experience working with EPIC.
Working knowledge of insurance and third-party billing.
Computer knowledge and keyboard skills.
