About The Position

The Coding Specialist 2 reviews electronic and written documentation and converts it into diagnostic and/or procedure codes. The coder ensures records are coded accurately and in a timely manner, communicating with clinical staff to support accurate translation of medical record documentation and appropriate ICD-CM and CPT/HCPCS code selection. The role may assist with quality and productivity audits, data collection, and monitoring and reporting. Efficient and accurate coding helps ensure CentraCare is properly reimbursed for professional and/or facility services. The position also safeguards patient privacy and confidentiality. This is a full-time, work-from-home position scheduled for 80 hours every two weeks, Monday through Friday, daytime CST hours. Starting pay is $24.69 per hour, with the exact wage determined by years of related experience; the pay range is $24.69–$37.08 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Completion of college-level courses in ICD, CPT-4, and HCPCS verified through AHIMA or AAPC, or relevant experience in anatomy and physiology and medical terminology.
AHIMA or AAPC certification required.
One year of experience in a medical office.
Experience in ICD-10 and CPT coding.
Previous experience working with EPIC.
Working knowledge of insurance and third-party billing.
Computer knowledge and keyboard skills.

Responsibilities
