About The Position

Aspen Grove Behavioral Hospital is recruiting a full-time, non-exempt hourly Coder/Medical Records Specialist to support its medical records department. This is an onsite position at the hospital in Orem, Utah, which serves adolescent, adult, and detox/rehab populations. The role supports the department through clerical, technical, and related services, including coding discharged patients’ accounts and preparing and organizing patient charts for discharge. The hourly pay rate will be based on education, work experience, and certifications.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
• Knowledge of Health Information Management (HIM) systems and operations.
• Computer literate and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

• Two years of experience as a coder with Medical Records preferred.
• CPC (Certified Professional Coder), CCA (Certified Coding Associate), CCS (Certified Coding Specialist), RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator), or RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the medical records department through clerical, technical, and related support services.
• Code discharged patients’ accounts.
• Prepare patient charts for the discharge process and assemble components in the correct order.
• Assign and abstract medical and consultant data.
