The Coder II, Inpatient is responsible for coding inpatient accounts with a balance less than $90,000 including Rehab and accounts that fall into the Inpatient Coder I category. This role performs the functions of coding, DRG assignment, collection of predefined indicators and abstracting medical records with a case mix greater than 1.5. The position provides timely and accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for reimbursement and specific information for statistical purposes. The Coder II, Inpatient remains current with recognized resources such as AHA Coding Clinic and Official Coding Guidelines. This role groups discharges utilizing the 3M encoder, selecting the appropriate DRG for reimbursement. Additionally, the Coder II, Inpatient communicates with physicians and clinical staff regarding coding and documentation issues. Eligible remote states include NC, FL, GA, SC, SD, TN, TX and VA.
