Code Enforcement Officer
About The Position
The Code Enforcement Officer serves as an ambassador and champion for the city, integral to enhancing public safety, quality of life, and positive relationships within the community. The role focuses on making Eastvale a wonderful place to live, work, play, connect, and prosper through education and awareness, with enforcement action taken only when compliance is not achieved. The Code Enforcement Division works collaboratively with City residents and businesses to ensure compliance with city ordinances and codes, upholding Eastvale's reputation for innovation and excellence in services.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of experience as a Code Enforcement Officer or two years of experience performing inspections, investigations, abatements, land use, zoning, building, public safety, related code enforcement or administration of justice work.
- The completion of up to one year of college (30 semester units) in a related field from an accredited college or university may substitute for up to one year of experience.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain successful working relationships with elected officials, partnering agencies, developers, community groups, and stakeholders.
- Ability to think beyond transactional interactions and instead focus on building relationships and educating the community into compliance rather than utilizing heavy-handed enforcement.
- Ability to promote interdepartmental teamwork and collaboration.
- Skills and ability to balance, instruct, inform, inspire.
- Proactive, customer-focused attitude.
- Ability to elevate organizational efficiency, effectiveness, and customer service to residents and businesses.
- Verification of the legal right to work in the United States.
- Ability to sign a loyalty oath to the United States and the State of California Constitution at time of hire.
