About The Position

The Town of Avon, Colorado, is accepting applications for a Code Enforcement Officer. The position performs a variety of fieldwork in support of the Avon Police Department community policing initiatives. This includes providing community education on topics regarding parks, preserve space, and animal complaints, enforcing parking violations, and issuing parking warnings and/or citations and code compliance calls. The Code Enforcement Officer can also provide support on medical calls, motor vehicle accidents, traffic control, and providing general visitor information. This is a non-sworn position.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License 30 days after the hire date.
  • Must successfully complete background investigation, polygraph, psychological and medical examination.
  • Must pass a drug screening.
  • A background check and reference checks will be required prior to employment.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two years public contact experience in a law enforcement environment.
  • Spanish bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with the public on topics related to parks, West Avon preserve, animal complaints, and Avon Municipal Code violations.
  • Marks abandoned vehicles and provides traffic control.
  • Handles animal control calls and Code Compliance calls as needed, including wildlife protection.
  • Enforces parking violations and issues warnings and/or parking citations.
  • Provides general visitor/tourist information.
