About The Position

The Town of Avon, Colorado, is accepting applications for a Code Enforcement Officer! The position of Code Enforcement Officer performs a variety of fieldwork in support of the Avon Police Department community policing initiatives to include providing community education on topics regarding parks, preserve space, animal complaints, enforcing parking violations and issuing parking warnings and /or citations and code compliance calls. CRO can provide support on medical calls, motor vehicle accidents, traffic control and providing general visitor information. This is a non-sworn position.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License 30 days after the hire date.
Must successfully complete background investigation, polygraph, psychological and medical examination.
Must pass a drug screening.
A High School diploma or GED is required.
A minimum of two years public contact experience in a law enforcement environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

Performs a variety of fieldwork in support of the Avon Police Department community policing initiatives.
Provides community education on topics regarding parks, preserve space, and animal complaints.
Enforces parking violations and issues parking warnings and/or citations.
Handles code compliance calls.
Provides support on medical calls, motor vehicle accidents, and traffic control.
Provides general visitor information.
Communicates with the public on topics related to parks, West Avon preserve, animal complaints and Avon Municipal Code violations.
Marks abandoned vehicles and provides traffic control.
Handles animal control calls and Code Compliance calls as needed to include wildlife protection.
Enforces parking regulations throughout the town.
Provides vehicle inspections for the public verifying identification numbers.
Assists the public with roadside assistance, information, directions and other requests within the legal scope of the duties and responsibilities of Community Response Officer.
