About The Position

As the Coating Technician, you will support manufacturing operations and new technology development while conducting all work safely. Your responsibilities will include mechanical setup and installation, parts measurement, quality testing, parts assessment, process monitoring and documentation, process adjusting, as well as handling chemicals and solvents. You are also required to prepare items for shipment, communicate with internal resources on parts status, raw materials transfer, instrumentation setup and calibration, sampling and sample analysis, data collection, and other coating related duties. Requirements

  • Associates Degree in a Technical Field or Technical Diploma required
  • Candidates must be familiar with basic mechanical and electrical principles and safety.
  • Candidates must have familiarity with basic hand tools and their use.
  • Required to be able to read, understand and follow E&I flow diagrams, operating procedures and run plan instructions.
  • Must be able to review blueprints, conduct equipment and safety reviews and support quality improvement projects.
  • Ability to work with machinery in a pilot type atmosphere.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Good communication and technical skills.
  • The availability to work overtime and/or a longer workday is necessary.
  • Must be able to lift materials up to 40 lbs and be on one’s feet for eight-hour periods.
  • Will be trained to operate lifting equipment to move parts, raw materials and finished goods.
  • Strong commitment to task and ability to organize, prioritize, and execute assignments in a high activity environment.
  • Initiative, drive, and attention to detail.
  • Clear and effective written and oral communication.
  • Demonstrated computer experience with standard software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

  • College level course work in math/engineering or mechanical/electrical trade school, a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude a plus
  • Familiarity with industrial coating equipment and operation a plus.
  • Familiarity with thermocouples, pressure transducers, setup and monitoring heaters and thermocouples for melt pipe.

Responsibilities

  • Mechanical installation and breakdown of various coating setups for routine coating processes.
  • A wide variety of parts coating operations and polymer processing operations.
  • Coordinating and preparing parts for shipping Domestically and Internationally.
  • Working closely with scientists, engineers, and operators to conduct coatings operations for both manufacturing and research and development activities.
  • Quality Control testing of Coating parts; data collection; entry and operation of SDC and SAP for raw materials and finished goods; equipment file organization; SAP data collection for the maintenance module.
  • Proper recognition, record keeping and disposal techniques in lab quantity amounts for chemical hazardous waste.
  • Other offline responsibilities will be assigned on an as needed basis
