The Coating Technician operates thin film coating and test equipment, retrieves proper designs, and programs them into the coating system operations controller. They operate coating equipment according to set parameters and established procedures, determine evaporation layer endpoints with high accuracy, and extract maximum data from each coating run, documenting it accordingly. This role involves monitoring two high-volume coating chambers simultaneously while supporting peers, communicating daily activities during quality meetings, and operating characterization/test equipment. The technician also evaluates design requirements, prepares evaporation materials, evaluates evaporation components for proper operation, and changes out worn/dirty components. They observe and extract maximum data from calibration/production runs, evaluate this data, use calibration equipment for quality control, and double-check design and run requirements before loading. Documentation of log information is crucial, and the technician accepts responsibility for the quality of the thin film coating process and assigned equipment. Related tasks include supporting the cleaning area, preparing evaporation material, maintaining inventory, performing minor maintenance, learning nonstandard system operations, auditing procedures for consistency, training new employees, and providing engineering support with accurate information.
