About The Position

The Coating Technician assists experienced painters with preparing and applying industrial coatings to steel structures, piping, railcars, tank trailers, and other paint projects within the facility. The role involves learning to use tools, understanding surface-preparation techniques, and following safety protocols. It may provide a pathway toward Level A Coating Technician status through on-the-job training and classroom instruction.

Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Basic knowledge of paint equipment and gauges.

Nice To Haves

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Previous industrial or commercial painting experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Clean, sand, mask, and prime surfaces to support proper coating adhesion.
• Learn to mix, apply, and finish industrial coatings using spraying, rolling, brushing, or other methods.
• Operate spray guns, brushes, and other industrial painting equipment.
• Follow safety regulations and procedures to prevent accidents and maintain a safe work environment.
• Assist Coating Technician A, Coating Technician B, and the Leadman with spray-equipment setup, equipment maintenance, and safety.
• Check and understand finished-product quality to ensure it meets specified standards and customer requirements.
• Dispose of garbage and paint cans appropriately and help clean and maintain equipment after use, including purging paint lines and pumps.
