About The Position

The purpose of the Coater Operator is to ensure proper production and machine operation through supervision of coating department personnel, product quality assurance in accordance with client specifications, and ensuring line repairs and troubleshooting activities are performed properly and efficiently. The Coater Operator is responsible for the overall performance of the assigned line within the Coating Department of Mactac facility. Primary daily activities include receiving and completing an initial review of client specifications; supervision of all coating employees within the assigned line to ensure efficient operation, including daily work schedules and assignments, documentation, delivery of proper material, etc.; and ensuring necessary repairs or troubleshooting occurs in a timely and efficient manner. Tasks for the Coater Operations will vary depending on the assigned Line. The Coater Operator may assist with additional job classifications within the Coating Department (Coater Assistant and Coater Helper), depending on production rates, staffing and necessity of line repairs.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have at least 6 months Lift Truck experience or be able to pass a Lift Truck licensing test.
  • Receiving and completing an initial review of client specifications.
  • Handling, fingering and operating controls with hands on a frequent basis while performing general machine operations.
  • Safety Equipment: Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection (minimum NRR 18), Work Gloves, Steel Toe Work Boots, Work Gloves and Armguards (during sampling), Nomex Sleeves (Line 507 only).
  • Safety Program Participation: Standard Safety Orientation, Hearing Conservation Program, Lockout/Tagout Program, Environmental Training, General Environmental Awareness, HAZWOPER Awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of all coating employees within the assigned line to ensure efficient operation, including daily work schedules and assignments, documentation, delivery of proper material, etc.
  • Ensuring necessary repairs or troubleshooting occurs in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Assisting Coater Assistant and/or Coater Helper move metal line shafts.
  • Assisting Coater Assistant and/or Coater Helper to load cores on the 505/506/509 Line.
  • Assisting the Assistant or Helper push rolls.
  • Assisting the Assistant or Helper to pull cores out of racks.
  • Operating a fork truck to retrieve rolls.
