About The Position

The purpose of the Coater Operator is to ensure proper production and machine operation through supervision of coating department personnel, product quality assurance in accordance with client specifications, and ensuring line repairs and troubleshooting activities are performed properly and efficiently. The Coater Operator is responsible for the overall performance of the assigned line within the Coating Department of Mactac facility. Primary daily activities include receiving and completing an initial review of client specifications; supervision of all coating employees within the assigned line to ensure efficient operation, including daily work schedules and assignments, documentation, delivery of proper material, etc.; and ensuring necessary repairs or troubleshooting occurs in a timely and efficient manner. Tasks for the Coater Operations will vary depending on the assigned Line. The Coater Operator may assist with additional job classifications within the Coating Department (Coater Assistant and Coater Helper), depending on production rates, staffing and necessity of line repairs.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED
  • At least 6 months Lift Truck experience or be able to pass a Lift Truck licensing test.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper production and machine operation through supervision of coating department personnel.
  • Perform product quality assurance in accordance with client specifications.
  • Ensure line repairs and troubleshooting activities are performed properly and efficiently.
  • Receive and complete an initial review of client specifications.
  • Supervise all coating employees within the assigned line to ensure efficient operation, including daily work schedules and assignments, documentation, and delivery of proper material.
  • Ensure necessary repairs or troubleshooting occurs in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Assist with additional job classifications within the Coating Department (Coater Assistant and Coater Helper), depending on production rates, staffing and necessity of line repairs.
  • Lift/move sleeves on an occasional basis (50-60 pounds each, with assistance).
  • Stand/walk on a continuous basis.
  • Sit on an occasional basis while completing paperwork.
  • Bend, twist, crawl, squat, and/or kneel on an occasional basis, primarily while cleaning rollers or line repair during "web breaks".
  • Reach between waist and shoulder height on a frequent basis.
  • Work from knee to waist height, floor to knee height, and above shoulder height on an occasional basis during web breaks.
  • Work while bending the neck up or down on an occasional basis for quality assurance checks, line inspections, and computer data entry.
  • Climb stairs on the line machine on an occasional basis.
  • Perform handling, fingering and operating controls with hands on a frequent basis while performing general machine operations.
  • Assist Coater Helper move metal line shafts (3-inch to 9-inch diameter) within 5-feet.
  • Lift/move cores (up to 40 pounds) within 5-feet to load on the 505/506/509 Line.
  • Assist the Assistant or Helper push rolls (3000 to 5000 pounds) on a dolly-track.
  • Assist the Assistant or Helper to pull cores out of racks.
  • Climb a ladder on the 505/506/509 Line to change filters (as Assistant or Helper).
  • Operate a fork truck to retrieve rolls (as Assistant or Helper).
