About The Position

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Coalition Specialist to engage RGV communities in prevention, education, outreach, and coalition-building activities that promote behavioral health and bring awareness related to substance use prevention. The position will mobilize community partners to implement evidence-based, prevention services for youth and young adults with and emphasis on rural communities.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or equivalent.
Experience working in social services, conducting presentations, networking in the community or schools or at risk population is preferred.
Must have reliable transportation as travel is required.
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Some travel required within service area and must have current TX driver’s license with current liability insurance

Responsibilities

Support recruitment of diverse Behavioral Health and community leaders, including developing partnerships, MOUs, referral pathways, and communication protocols.
Support community needs assessments, engage stakeholders, and support development and implementation of measurable strategic plans addressing substance use priorities, high-risk groups, risk/ protective factors, and service gaps in Cameron, Hidalgo and Willacy counties.
Conduct community outreach, prevention education, and awareness initiatives that engage youth, families, schools, and community partners; promote behavioral health and early intervention; and increase awareness and access to prevention and support services.
Coordinate the development and dissemination of targeted media messages and awareness campaigns focused on substance use prevention, promoting prevention strategies, reducing risk factors, and increasing awareness of available community resources and support services.
Support implementation of behavioral health needs assessments to identify community strengths, service gaps, and emerging needs; using findings to strengthen community capacity, inform prevention priorities, and enhance coordination of resources and services.
