About The Position

This role involves overseeing all aspects of the Girls LaCrosse Program, including player development, game strategies, and team leadership. The successful candidate will serve as the Girls Varsity Head LaCrosse Coach, responsible for all tryouts, practices, and games. The position requires a deep understanding of the game, including game management and rules, and the ability to develop and execute an effective training program. A key aspect of this role is motivating and mentoring student-athletes, instructing them in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training, while also guiding them in the development of moral values, pride, social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence. The coach will foster teamwork, discipline, respect, sportsmanship, and skills development, while ensuring the safety and well-being of student-athletes. This position requires cooperation with the School Athletic Director and the District Athletic Department, and adherence to all mandated requirements from the District Board of Education, The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), and The Ohio Department of Education (ODE), including Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification and the ODE Pupil Activity Permit (PAP). The coach must also check the academic eligibility of student-athletes, follow District Athletic Department Policies, and model appropriate behavior. Maintaining suitable sideline conduct, accepting constructive criticism, and staying aware of all applicable administrative policies are also essential. The role includes providing in-season training rules and out-of-season conduct guidelines, following due process for violations, and participating in clinics to improve coaching performance. Additionally, the coach will participate in school events and assist in preparing the team for opponents, while maintaining an accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of LaCrosse rules, techniques, and strategies.
  • Must be passionate and dedicated to inspire student-athletes.
  • Have the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
  • Serve as a positive role model.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills associated with the sport.
  • Provide satisfactory result of County Police Records Check, State BCII Check, and a FBI Fingerprint Background Check.
  • Possess an Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
  • Provide proof of completion of Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Fundraising experience.
  • Previous experience coaching LaCrosse preferred.
  • Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate preferred.
  • Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the High School and/or College level preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the Girls LaCrosse Program including player development, game strategies, and team leadership.
  • Serve as the Girls Varsity Head LaCrosse Coach.
  • Oversee all tryouts, practices, and games.
  • Develop and execute an effective training program.
  • Motivate and mentor student-athletes on and off the Field.
  • Instruct and guide student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
  • Instruct and guide student-athletes to lead them to the formulation and enhancement of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
  • Foster teamwork, discipline, respect, sportsmanship, and skills development.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes.
  • Cooperate, in a timely manner, with School Athletic Director and the District Athletic Department in regard to requests for pertinent information and/or periodically required.
  • Meet all the requirements mandated by the District Board of Education, The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), and The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) relative to the mandated Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/ Certification and the ODE Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
  • Check the status of academic eligibility for all prospective student-athletes.
  • Follow the District Athletic Department Policies as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as outlined in the job description.
  • Model the behavior expected of our student-athletes including timeliness to practices and games, being positive and enthusiastic, being respectful, and practicing constructive criticism while upholding the disciplines of the program.
  • Maintain a suitable sideline conduct, including the use of appropriate language, at all times.
  • Accept and profit from constructive criticism and suggestions for improving coaching performance.
  • Recognize the need to be aware of and implement all applicable administrative polices set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendents of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, ODE, and OHSAA.
  • Provide all applicable in-season training rules as well as any that may apply to out-of-season conduct to student-athletes prior to the start of the season.
  • Follow appropriate due process procedures when violations occur.
  • Participate in Clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance.
  • Participate in School events (i.e., Awards Night, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Boosters Meetings, etc.
  • Assist in ensuring that team is well-prepared for opponents.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.
