About The Position

Under the supervision of the Athletics and Activities Manager and building administration, the Interscholastic Athletics Coach organizes and administers the team which he/she coaches. Retired Coaches are hired per BOE Policy 7120 COACHES AND ADVISORS OF HIGH SCHOOL EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES. Coaches are hired seasonally and are considered temporary employees. Coaching positions may be paid or volunteer. Paid coaches receive a stipend at the end of the season. All coaches (paid and volunteer) will need to submit a streamlined application as a HCPSS Retiree, which means no transcripts, references, or resume are required. The MD 486 Background check, I-9 process, and Fingerprinting will need to be conducted to finalize rehire.

Requirements

• Applicants must meet all qualifications below to be considered for the vacancy.
• Due to MSRA regulations, there is a mandatory 45-day waiting period after your retirement date before you can be rehired.
• Howard County Public School System retiree
• Coaches are hired by recommendations only.
• The MD 486 Background check, I-9 process and Fingerprinting will need to be conducted to finalize rehire.
