About The Position

American Heritage School is seeking a Boys JV Basketball Head Coach/Varsity Assistant Coach who is passionate about both basketball and helping students grow physically, spiritually, socially, and intellectually. This position is considered a faith-forming role within American Heritage School. The Boys JV Basketball Head Coach/Varsity Assistant Coach is expected to actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, leading the boys JV basketball team as the head coach and supporting the boys Varsity basketball team as the assistant coach, upholding the mission and standards of American Heritage School.

Requirements

  • Basketball background.
  • Experience with basketball.
  • Experience coaching.
  • An enduring love of youth and a genuine passion for teaching and learning.
  • The ability to use sports as a tool to build better disciples of Jesus Christ and Christian character.
  • A commitment to actively participate in and contribute to a faith-based educational environment aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  • Strong communication and management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the boys JV basketball team as the head coach.
  • Support the boys Varsity basketball team as the assistant coach.
  • Uphold the mission and standards of American Heritage School.
  • Integrate faith-based principles and moral reasoning into the athletics program where appropriate.
  • Serve as an example of Christian character and discipleship to students.
  • Support and uphold the spiritual mission of the school through daily interactions with students and colleagues.
  • Respond thoughtfully to student questions related to faith, values, and moral decision-making in a manner consistent with the school's mission.
  • Be professional in appearance and demeanor.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement on and off campus.
  • Ensure personal conduct, public statements, and online presence reflect and support the school's religious mission and educational purpose.
