About The Position

Provides guidance, support, and direction for students participating in Cleveland Metropolitan School District sports programs or other approved student activities. The coach develops, administers, or assists with administration of the program throughout the school year, including student selection, recruitment, training, practices, performance sessions, and games. The coach follows schedules developed by the Athletics Department and monitors the program for compliance with District policies and procedures.

This posting is available only to qualified CTU (Local 279) members who will be working in a Local 279 position for the 2008-09 school year and have a Pupil Activity Supervisory Permit on file with Employee Services. An employment offer is subject to successful completion of an FBI/BCI background check and drug screen.

Requirements

• Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate is required.
• Qualified CTU (Local 279) member working in a Local 279 position for the 2008-09 school year.
• Pupil Activity Supervisory Permit on file with Employee Services.
• Any person receiving a supplemental contract to supervise, direct, or coach a pupil activity must hold a pupil activity validation (PAV) certificate, as mandated by the Ohio Department of Education.

Nice To Haves

• Previous successful coaching experience.
• Knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport/activity and willingness to seek out new techniques, aspects, or procedures for the sport/activity.

Responsibilities

• Develop, administer, or assist with administration of the activity or program throughout the school year, including student selection, recruitment, training, practices, performance sessions, and/or games.
• Participate in the schedule developed by the Athletics Department.
• Monitor the ongoing program to ensure compliance with applicable Cleveland Metropolitan School District policies and procedures.
• Attend all required organizational meetings conducted by the Athletics Department.
