About The Position

Monroe Public Schools is seeking a highly collaborative and student-centered Co-Teaching School Improvement Coach to support instructional improvement efforts within CSI and ATS identified buildings. This full-time position is responsible for leading, supporting, and monitoring the implementation of research-based co-teaching and inclusive instructional practices aligned with district goals, the MICIP continuous improvement process, and PLC+ collaborative frameworks. The Co-Teaching School Improvement Coach works closely with building administrators, teachers, special education staff, and district leadership to strengthen instructional systems, improve student outcomes, and ensure equitable access to grade-level curriculum for all learners within inclusive classroom settings. This position places a strong emphasis on building the capacity of cooperating/general education teachers to effectively collaborate with special education teachers in co-taught classrooms through coaching, modeling, professional learning, and continuous improvement cycles. This is a grant-funded position and is renewed on a year-to-year basis contingent upon grant funding availability and program needs.

Requirements

  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of successful teaching experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in co-teaching models, inclusive instructional practices, and collaborative service delivery between general education and special education staff
  • Strong understanding of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), differentiated instruction, accommodations/modifications, and evidence-based interventions for diverse learners
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing student achievement data, progress monitoring tools, and instructional cycles to drive measurable academic growth
  • Experience with MICIP, PLC+, and data-driven school improvement processes preferred
  • ELA and Math endorsements preferred
  • Strong leadership, coaching, collaboration, and communication skills
  • Ability to build positive professional relationships with staff, students, and families
  • Commitment to educational equity and continuous improvement

Responsibilities

  • Support CSI and ATS school improvement efforts aligned to the MICIP framework and district goals
  • Facilitate PLC+ processes focused on collaboration, student achievement, and continuous instructional improvement
  • Assist buildings in implementing data-driven instructional action plans and monitoring implementation fidelity
  • Support implementation of district-approved co-teaching models, including: Lead and Support Station Teaching, Parallel Teaching, Alternative Teaching, Team Teaching (Duet Model)
  • Model and coach effective inclusive instructional practices
  • Support teachers in differentiating instruction, implementing accommodations, and increasing student engagement
  • Build strong working relationships between general education and special education staff
  • Promote authentic collaboration, shared instructional ownership, and collective responsibility for student learning
  • Facilitate productive co-planning and collaborative instructional practices
  • Assist teachers in developing standards-aligned lessons and formative assessment practices
  • Support implementation of instructional scaffolds, accommodations, modifications, and differentiated supports
  • Promote inclusive learning environments that meet diverse student needs
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide actionable coaching feedback
  • Support reflective instructional practices focused on student outcomes and co-teaching effectiveness
  • Monitor implementation fidelity and instructional impact
  • Collaborate with building leadership to develop schedules that support co-teaching and collaborative planning time
  • Assist in aligning staffing and instructional systems to maximize inclusive opportunities for students
  • Use student achievement and growth data to inform instructional decisions and school improvement planning
  • Support PLC+ teams in analyzing data and identifying interventions and enrichment opportunities
  • Lead professional development focused on: Co-teaching practices, Inclusive instruction, Differentiation, Collaboration, Priority standards, PLC+ processes
  • Support ongoing teacher growth and instructional capacity building
