About The Position

IDEA Early Childhood Co-Teachers support Tier 1 instruction in Prekindergarten through Grade 2 and provide targeted intervention under the direction of the lead teacher. They facilitate small-group learning, provide academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support, and help create joyful, engaging learning environments. In collaboration with lead teachers, Co-Teachers help students access grade-level learning, achieve mastery, and develop a love of learning. The role requires at least 40 hours at school per week and includes weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, before- and after-school duties, and school-wide meetings and functions. Additional responsibilities may include after-school tutoring or Saturday school based on student needs. Co-Teachers participate in summer and year-long district, school, and personal learning and development.

Requirements

At least 48 college hours or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year educational institution.
At least 1 year of experience working with children in a classroom or volunteer setting.
Basic knowledge of early childhood development and instructional practices.
Ability to support young learners in whole-group, small-group, and individual learning.
Ability to adapt to diverse learner needs.
Ability to provide clear directions, engage students, and respond to student behavior.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to adjust and adapt to a variety of situations in the school environment.

Responsibilities

Assist in students’ educational development under the direction and guidance of classroom teachers.
Assist classroom teachers with maintaining student records.
Support Tier 1 core instruction under the direction of the lead teacher so all students can access grade-level learning.
Facilitate small-group instruction and intervention groups based on student data and teacher planning.
Monitor student learning and needs during instruction and provide feedback and support.
Communicate students’ progress with students and families weekly.
Implement a clear and consistent behavior management system aligned with campus-wide initiatives while developing students’ character and classroom community.
Help develop a school-wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment.
Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with students and families based on trust, understanding, and respect for their communities.
Host tutoring sessions as needed to meet students’ needs.
Participate in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, before- and after-school duties, and school-wide meetings and functions.
Engage in summer and year-long district, school, and personal learning and development.
Complete at least 40 hours at school per week.
Potentially provide after-school tutoring or participate in Saturday school based on scholar needs.
