About The Position

Will serve as a ride along partner with the City of Douglas Police Department and the Coffee County Sherrif’s Office collaboratively responding to law enforcement calls for individuals involving mental health or substance abuse needs. Work with law enforcement to engage individuals in treatment services and assist with reducing unnecessary arrests as part of a new program following the Co-Responder Act. Will work together to provide effective initial on-scene de-escalation and secondary linkage to support and resources for individuals experiencing a mental health or substance abuse-related crisis; provide outreach, referrals, and follow-up for community members affected by behavioral health issues.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record with less than 6 points.
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Two years' experience in social services.
  • Presently certified as a peer specialist (CPS).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience with or knowledge of trauma informed, resilience-oriented care.
