About The Position

The Commercial Banking Associate Co-op Student provides support to the Commercial Banking team while gaining practical experience in commercial lending, relationship management, credit administration, and portfolio management. Working closely with Commercial Banking Associates, Account Managers, and other team members, the student will participate in structured learning opportunities and assist with day-to-day activities that support the delivery of financial solutions to business clients. This role is designed to develop foundational knowledge of commercial banking, financial analysis, risk management, and client service. This part-time term position is based out of our Winnipeg, MB branch, located on First Nations land.

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary co-operative education program in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in commercial banking, lending, relationship management, or financial services.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to analyze information and exercise sound judgment.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of introductory accounting or finance coursework is considered an asset.
  • Experience in customer service, administration, or financial services is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support Commercial Banking Associates and Account Managers with administrative and operational activities related to commercial lending.
  • Assist with collecting, organizing, and reviewing client financial information and documentation.
  • Support the preparation of credit files, annual reviews, and loan renewal documentation.
  • Conduct basic financial statement and ratio analysis under supervision.
  • Maintain accurate client records and assist with document management and filing requirements.
  • Research industry, market, and customer information to support business development initiatives.
  • Assist in monitoring commercial portfolios and tracking upcoming renewals and reporting requirements.
  • Participate in client service activities and respond to inquiries as directed by team members.
  • Attend team meetings, coaching sessions, and training opportunities to develop knowledge of commercial banking practices.
  • Work with assigned mentors and team members to achieve learning objectives and professional development goals.
  • Assist with special projects, reporting requirements, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to all Bank policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and confidentiality standards.
  • Actively participate as a member of the Commercial Banking team and contribute to a positive client experience.
