About The Position

BISSELL is seeking a paid, full- or part-time Chemist Co-op to join its Chemist Product Development team. The role is part of the Consumables Development function and reports to a Product Development Chemist. The co-op will learn chemical formulation and testing while conducting tests on new and existing product lines, supporting consumables launches, maintenance requests, and cost reductions. The position supports Consumable Development activities to help ensure BISSELL requirements are met and product launches succeed.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in Chemistry or a related science.
Able to commit at least one semester of full-time work with BISSELL.
For students at schools with rotating work and school schedules, able to work full-time during BISSELL’s standard office hours.
For students at traditional schools, able to work a full- or part-time schedule during BISSELL’s standard office hours.
1–3 years of experience in a general college laboratory environment.
Experience analyzing data and test results.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including comfort presenting to large groups of associates across multiple business functions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

Support chemists in developing market-winning consumable products and technologies.
Monitor technical issues on assigned projects, communicate status, and direct activities as needed to support project success.
Conduct testing of chemical formulations and chemical package designs, including bottles, triggers, and aerosols, as well as related material, test plan, purchased component, and product specifications.
Learn and consistently follow BISSELL Test Procedures (BTPs).
Prepare concise, understandable technical reports as required.
Use systematic problem-solving and knowledge-capture techniques for consumables products.
Coordinate with internal departments, including Marketing, Operations, Purchasing, Engineering, and Sales, and with external suppliers to support business needs.
