About The Position

As a Traffic Operations Co-op Student, you will play a key role in supporting the daily functions of the Traffic Operations. Working closely with the Supervisor or designate, you will gain hands-on experience in traffic studies, field investigations, and public engagement—making a meaningful contribution to safer and more efficient roadways.

Requirements

Must be enrolled in a recognized post‑secondary co-op program and be eligible to complete a Work Term during the specified period
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
Proof of enrolment in a related program must be uploaded when completing the application
Must be enrolled in a Post Secondary Transportation Engineering or related program
Demonstrate knowledge of various traffic studies, such as turning movement counts, stopping compliance and spot speed studies
Knowledge in traffic engineering theory and practice is required
Knowledge of computer applications such as MS Office, Outlook and other traffic related software
Exceptional customer service skills
Strong verbal and written communication skill are essential
Demonstrated ability to plan and organize work is crucial
Must possess a valid Class “G” driver’s license and have access to a vehicle on a daily basis

Nice To Haves

Previous co-op experience related to “Transportation Engineering Technology” would be an asset

Responsibilities

Assist in the day-to-day operations and carry out various traffic functions of the Traffic Operations and Road Safety Units
Perform regular peak hour studies and observations
Conduct basic field work and provide comments to members of staff
Investigate and complete record keeping requirements related to sign deficiencies
Provide both written and verbal feedback to staff and the general public related to traffic operations
Perform other duties as required
