About The Position

We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineering Co-op Student to join our team in Thompson. This is a 12-month fixed-term co-op position starting in September 2026. The successful Electrical Engineering Co-op student will work alongside Engineers, Designers and other personnel in the organization, to assist with a wide variety of tasks related to technical and engineering support. The role involves adhering to Vale’s Safety Policies, Programs, and Legislative Standards with a strong focus on safety and risk management. Responsibilities include helping with engineering work, drafting, reviewing reports, participating in quality reviews and/or audits, and assisting with office work and completing on-site work in our plants and/or mines. The student will learn and contribute to the project’s success.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled and in good standing in a university or college program.
  • Enrollment in an engineering (electrical preferred) or geoscience program is considered an asset.
  • Follow Vale’s Safety Policies, Programs, and Legislative Standards; ensure compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and guidelines; maintain a high level of professional conduct; and be obsessed with safety and risk.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment; demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work; and possess strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Continuously develop skills and abilities related to the provision of engineering to Manitoba Operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous work experience in an industrial setting would be an asset.
  • Enrollment in an engineering (electrical preferred) or geoscience program.
