About The Position

This co-op position offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in laboratory operations. The student will assist with daily operational tasks, inventory management, equipment maintenance, and ensuring a safe work environment. The role also involves contributing to process improvements and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The program is designed to challenge students, encourage critical thinking, and foster professional and personal development within a fast-paced, innovative scientific environment.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a BSc or Diploma in a relevant field.
Must be available for a co-op term of at least 8-months.
Must be able to work onsite in Vancouver, BC, without relocation assistance.
Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a cross-functional team.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Good organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a high paced, fast changing environment.
Results-oriented.

Responsibilities

Assist with daily operational tasks, including running the autoclave, glassware cleaning, and general lab upkeep.
Maintain inventories for equipment, consumables, and reagents.
Assist with the routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and manage maintenance records.
Maintain a safe work environment and lab facility, compliant with regulatory requirements.
Coordinate activities with cross-functional teams and identify future lab needs.
Maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to lab best practices.
Gain experience developing and implementing lab process improvements to optimize operational efficiency and safety practices.
