About The Position

United Therapeutics (Nasdaq: UTHR) is a public benefit corporation focused on developing novel pharmaceutical therapies and technologies to expand the availability of transplantable organs. Founded in 1996, the company has developed six FDA-approved therapies for rare, deadly diseases such as pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD), and neuroblastoma. The company is also working on creating manufactured organs to address the shortage of transplantable organs. This co-op role is with the IVIVA Medical team, focusing on advancing engineered tissue technologies through hands-on cell culture, tissue assessment, and experimental research. The co-op will contribute to the development of cell seeding and physiologic assessment procedures for engineered tissue constructs.

Requirements

Must be enrolled in an accredited college/institution and be in good academic standing pursuing a bachelor’s degree or graduate degree in engineering or biology.
Students in their junior year or above will be considered.
Must be available to work 40 hours/week onsite in the Medford, MA facility
Relevant coursework in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biology, or other related fields.
Experience with standard office software.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with biomaterials and tissue engineering concepts.
Proficient with mammalian cell culture and aseptic technique.
Working knowledge of renal physiology or renal cell functions preferred.
Ability to think creatively and learn quickly will contribute to successful and timely completion of goals
