About The Position
United Therapeutics (Nasdaq: UTHR) is a public benefit corporation focused on developing novel pharmaceutical therapies and technologies to expand the availability of transplantable organs. The company has developed six FDA-approved therapies for conditions like pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD), and neuroblastoma. United Therapeutics is also working on creating manufactured organs to address the shortage of transplantable organs. This co-op role is within the IVIVA Medical group, providing engineering experience under supervision to develop tissue-engineered products and process equipment. The co-op will involve designing components and assemblies, producing tissue constructs and components based on SOPs, and creating reports and performing data analysis. The selected candidate will be onsite at the Medford MA office from early January through June 2026.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college/institution and be in good academic standing pursuing a bachelor’s degree or graduate degree in engineering
- Students in their junior year or above will be considered
- Must be available to work 40 hours/week onsite in the Medford, MA facility
- Relevant coursework in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biology, or other related fields.
- Experience with standard office software
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with biomaterials and tissue engineering concepts
- Working knowledge of CAD design software
- Familiarity with 3D printing concepts and hardware
- Familiarity with mammalian cell culture and aseptic technique experience
- Motivated, curious, hardworking
- Ability to think creatively and learn quickly will contribute to successful and timely completion of goals
Responsibilities
- Design of components and assemblies.
- SOP-based production of tissue constructs and components (R&D).
- Creation of reports, data analysis.
