About The Position

Advanced Technologies and Laboratories (ATL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is hiring for a Co-Op Engineering to support Lab Projects in Richland, WA. This position will support Navarro-ATL. Navarro-ATL is located in Richland, WA and operates, manages, and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. Navarro-ATL members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD).

Requirements

  • A U.S. citizen.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • An active full-time student during the two semesters/quarters immediately preceding the assignment.
  • Maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) during their college enrollment.
  • Students at Washington State University, Tri-Cities (WSU-TC), Columbia Basin College (CBC), or any online students living local who are enrolled in a degree program that relates to Navarro-ATL’s and Hanford’s cleanup mission.
  • Junior status and enrolled full-time, as determined by the institution.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for applying classroom-based education to gain hands-on technical experience within field of study.
  • Performs a variety of technical support activities in areas such as Engineering or Project Engineering.
  • Provides field support and assists in the completion of special projects.
  • Contributes to the development of new ideas and concepts.
  • Maintains training and ensures work is completed in compliance with all applicable procedures.
  • Has understanding of the job and applies knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of tasks.
  • Assignments may be broad or narrowly focused requiring judgment and initiative.
  • Under general supervision, works on assignments that are moderately complex in nature where considerable discretion is required in resolving problems and making recommendations.
  • Applies knowledge of established policies, procedures, and practices in carrying out daily activities.
  • May make detailed observations, analyze data, and interpret results.
  • May make minor modification to established procedures to meet specific needs, following established procedures.
  • Participates in conducting studies and in supporting non-routine technical activities in accordance with company standards and government regulations.
