About The Position

Molex, a Koch company, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Co-op to join our Copper Solutions team in Lisle, IL or Harrisburg, PA. This role offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on engineering experience while supporting product development, manufacturing, process improvement, and operational excellence initiatives within our Copper Solutions business. The Engineering Co-op will work closely with engineering, operations, quality, and manufacturing teams to support projects that create value for customers and improve business performance. This position is designed for students pursuing an engineering degree who are interested in applying technical knowledge in a manufacturing environment while continuing their academic studies. This is a part-time, onsite position located in Lisle, PA or Harrisburg, PA, with anticipated work hours of approximately 15-25 hours per week during the academic year. Molex's Copper Solutions business develops and manufactures innovative copper connectivity solutions that support data communications, telecommunications, industrial, and commercial applications around the world. Our team is focused on delivering high-quality products, driving manufacturing excellence, and creating value through innovation and continuous improvement. As a member of the engineering team, you will collaborate with experienced engineers and cross-functional partners while gaining exposure to product design, manufacturing processes, quality systems, and project management.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 preferred.
  • Ability to work onsite in Lisle or Harrisburg during the academic year.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship, co-op, laboratory, manufacturing, or engineering project experience.
  • Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis, data visualization, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience using engineering analysis or manufacturing software.
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or operational excellence concepts.
  • Knowledge of copper cable, connectivity products, or manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering and manufacturing projects focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost improvements.
  • Assist in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting production and process data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in troubleshooting manufacturing, equipment, and process-related issues.
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation, work instructions, technical reports, and process procedures.
  • Support product validation, testing activities, and data collection efforts.
  • Create and update process flows, standard work documentation, and visual management tools.
  • Utilize engineering problem-solving methodologies to support root cause investigations and corrective actions.
