About The Position

The Electronics Hardware Systems Engineering Co-Op will help create requirements, design, test and validate electronic control-based systems. Our goal is to develop your talents as an Engineer and enable you to make significant contributions to the Rheem Water Heating Systems Team and the Air Conditioning Systems Team in product design, team processes, and lab capabilities during your time at Rheem. This position is in our Advanced Technology Integration department, located in Indianapolis, Indiana. This is a Co-Op position for 3 to 5 terms, working onsite 40 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical, or Computer Engineering
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Interest or experience in product design
  • Some programming experience or interest in programming embedded microprocessors
  • Basic knowledge of engineering principles (electrical, electronics and programming)
  • Ability to plan work tasks
  • Willingness to write reports/specifications and present your findings to the team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and computer skills (Excel, Power Point, Word, Teams)

Responsibilities

  • Participate in new product development activities
  • Research communication protocols and how to apply these to Rheem products
  • Plan and execute parts of a product development project
  • Help create new control algorithms
  • Work with a design team to create controls requirements and work toward attaining approval from the design team of those requirements
  • Assist developing tests for proof-of-concept control electronics and software
  • Assist creating testing requirements, test and document testing results of proof-of-concept controls
  • Team create presentations for communicating progress of various controls developments to engineering and management teams
  • Research technologies and present findings that may be beneficial for use on future Rheem controls
