About The Position

The Clinical Associate works under the direction of a nurse and performs basic procedures to support patient care, comfort, and safety. The role contributes to care quality and patient satisfaction by addressing patients’ physical and emotional needs. This position is with Winchester Hospital, a 223-bed regional hospital serving the northwest suburban Boston area. The schedule is per diem, with various shifts and weekend and holiday rotations.

Requirements

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Must meet at least one of the following: be a Certified Nursing Assistant; be a nursing student who has completed one medical-surgical clinical rotation; have three months of clinical care experience; or have successfully completed the Winchester Hospital Clinical Associate Training Program (CATP).
• Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English with patients, visitors, and members of the hospital team.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent is strongly preferred.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Reposition and ambulate patients.
• Make occupied and unoccupied beds.
• Assist with transporting patients, beds, supplies, and equipment.
• Collect, label, and transport specimens.
• Retrieve and sign out blood products.
• Perform point-of-care testing accurately.
• Obtain vital signs and weights.
• Maintain accurate intake and output measurements.
• Remove Foley catheters and saline locks.
