About The Position

Recruits, retains, plans, and directs student-athlete training and assesses individuals' abilities and skill levels to determine appropriate positions within a team. Assists players in reaching the highest athletic potential possible through athletic training and leadership skills. Must be familiar with NCAA rules and regulations. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the sport of cross country. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under the general supervision of the Director of Athletics and Associate/Assistant Athletic Directors. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. This is a part-time stipend position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or extensive relevant experience.
  • Collegiate coaching and/or playing experience.
  • Familiarity with hardware/software used within a University/Athletics setting.
  • Proven leadership ability.
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, student-athletes, potential recruits, and their families.
  • Excellent communication, written and oral skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to NCAA Division II guidelines and regulations.
  • Eligible candidates must possess a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, retain, and mentor student-athletes at a high level.
  • Monitor and assist with the strength and conditioning program.
  • Team coaching includes practice planning and implementation, individual and team coaching, and other duties as assigned.
  • Assist with the academic support of current student-athletes, including study hall monitoring, individual academic monitoring and meetings, class checking, and other duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate on and off-campus recruiting activities, including prospect evaluation, database management, correspondences, phone calls, and other duties.
  • Provide input on the assessment and improvement of our student-athletes.
  • Pass the NCAA recruiting certification test.
  • Plan all aspects of team travel within budgetary limitations.
  • Plan for fundraising for the Cross Country program.
  • Additional duties are assigned within the Athletics Department and at the discretion of the Director of Athletics and/or the Associate/Assistant Director of Athletics.
