About The Position

The HOLLA School Co-Administrators will supervise, coach, provide feedback and direction, and support HOLLA School staff. Successful HOLLA School Co-Administrators will enjoy working collaboratively, creatively solving problems, and engaging in lifelong learning along with HOLLA School students and staff. Additionally, the Co-Administrators understand equity as an ongoing consciousness journey that requires continuous reflection, a cycle of inquiry and being able to give and receive feedback throughout the process of learning. Central to these roles is the ability to work within RSD and ODE compliance systems and structures required for HOLLA School, while identifying adaptable areas to fully embody the school’s mission, vision, and values in an effort to create a culturally honoring ecosystem, allowing for the academic narratives of Black, Brown, and Indigenous scholars to be rewritten. This role requires a high level of organization, consistency, and ability to communicate clearly through both written and verbal paths. As a person representing HOLLA School to community and education partners, as well as HOLLA School scholars and families, the role requires the embodiment of HOLLA School’s mission and values of identity, skill development, intellectualism, criticality, joy, and orientation in the world. The two Co-Administrators work side by side to ensure all needs of the HOLLA School community are met. This is accomplished by a division of duties as well as general shared responsibility for all aspects of the functioning of HOLLA School. A job description will not encompass all nuances and needs of the role; this is meant to give a picture.

Requirements

  • Experience creating and sustaining school systems and effective instruction aligned with HOLLA School's mission and beliefs.

  • Ability to orient a team and guide teachers and community in the vision while offering tools, skills, and supports.

  • Experience working with racially, culturally and socioeconomically diverse populations.

  • Evidence of effective literacy instruction and stages of acquisition in K-5 youth.
  • Knowledge of Culturally Specific Developmental Milestones.
  • Familiarity with Rockwood community and experience with the demographics & socio-political context of the East Portland communities.
  • Knowledgeable about historical and institutional oppression.
  • Prior Knowledge of HOLLA School's North Stars and experience utilizing these instructional frameworks.
  • Exhibit passion and joy and demonstrates the ability to cultivate community.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, provide feedback and direction, and support HOLLA School staff.
  • Establish rapport and build relationships with families, scholars, and staff based on trust.
  • Collaborate with HOLLA School staff, families, and volunteers to build community and implement HOLLA School curriculum and mission.
  • Represent HOLLA School and participate in various meetings at the district, state, and federal level for the purpose of learning, collaborating, providing information, etc.
  • Create and maintain a safe, clean, stimulating school setting where all children and staff feel safe and valued.
  • Manage administrative tasks such as district and ODE required records, Synergy, and other record-keeping and data-tracking needs for HOLLA School.
  • Engage with staff and scholars with patience and use excellent observational, communication, and diagnostic skills.
  • Multitask, keep calm under pressure, and treat everyone with love and respect amidst times of uncertainty.
  • Develop and implement the HOLLA School Family/Community Engagement Framework including the Family Advisory Council.
  • Provide proactive, consistent, and clear feedback aligned with HOLLA School’s philosophy to staff in real time, as well as dedicated time to longer conversations to staff growth and professional development.
  • Provide scholar support throughout the school day and utilize proactive communication and planning with the scholar’s classroom team and family to promote scholar engagement.
  • Model and engage in restorative practices with both staff and scholars.
  • Utilize excellent planning and organizational skills to keep HOLLA School running smoothly on a day to day basis as well as responsively to scholar and staff needs as they arise.
  • Participate in board meetings as scheduled.
  • Plan and facilitate staff professional development and staff meetings that are responsive to staff, school, and scholar needs.
