About The Position
Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) is offering multiple CNN Newsgathering internship opportunities in the NYC area for Fall 2026. These internships are designed to provide interns with real-world experience in various aspects of news gathering and production. The selected interns will be expected to work in the office on a regular cadence based on their manager's schedule. Example internship roles include CNN Newsgathering Intern and Enterprise Booking Intern.
Requirements
- Interest in all aspects of digital and broadcast news media
- High energy, self-motivated, able to multi-task, have a good attitude, technically solid, strong online and social media skills
- Able to function well in a diverse, fast-paced environment
- Understanding of creating rundowns
- Basic script formatting
- Editorial judgement
- Production experience, video and writing
- Strong writing skills and great attention to detail
- Stellar customer service and strong teamwork
- Experience with Adobe Premiere
- Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required)
- Must be a rising Junior or rising Senior undergrad student (18 years or older)
- Must be in academic good standing (3.0 or above GPA)
- Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and will not require work visa sponsorship
- Candidates currently on any student or exchange visa, including F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1, etc., will not be eligible
Responsibilities
- Understand the process of pitching stories
- Daily research for scripts
- Edit video for segments
- Assist in producing packages and segments for daily shows
- Contribute to daily shows
- Gathering and publishing day-of news content, both nationally and regionally
- Writing scripts for broadcast news programming
- Creating original packages for affiliate newscasts and websites
- Curating and clearing images for wire articles
- Gathering regional news stories and content from and for affiliates
- Publishing affiliate links on the CNN.com U.S. page
- Using social media to promote content and services
