About The Position

The CNC VTL Machinist will be responsible for operating Vertical Lathe Machines, often running multiple machines simultaneously within manufacturing cells. This role requires working with challenging hard metals like Inconel, Titanium, and Stainless Steel, and necessitates a strong understanding of mathematics and the ability to interpret symbols on operation sheets. Proficiency in Fanuc controls, including making offsets, and the ability to load parts and fixtures onto hoists are essential. The position also requires knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and the capability to work within tight tolerances.

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ operating CNC Machinery in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk up a few stairs on machine platforms to access machines
  • Team player with the skills to work with people at all levels in a fast paced and demanding environment
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to read and interpret CNC Programs at the machine
  • Read tool sheets and set up tools for use on a job or part
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools such as gauges, swing gauges, calipers, and micrometers
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the USA

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably Aerospace experience
  • Experience working with major aerospace OEMs (Pratt & Whitney, General Electric, Rolls Royce, etc..)

Responsibilities

  • Ability to run Vertical Lathe Machines
  • Run multiple machines simultaneously where possible/feasible
  • Work with hard metals such as Inconel, Titanium and Stainless Steel
  • Read English and interpret symbols on operation sheets
  • Proficient in mathematics and be able to use a calculator
  • Use Fanuc controls and make offsets as required by the program
  • Load part onto a fixture
  • Load parts and fixtures onto hoists and operate hoist to load part onto machine
  • Familiarity with operation of Right-Angle Heads
  • Possess Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing knowledge
  • Work within tight tolerances such as thousandths
  • Other duties as assigned by the Department Supervisor or Manager
