About The Position

Morris Group, Inc., a large, family-owned machine tool distributor, is seeking a CNC Tooling Sales Engineer. This role is crucial in supporting the capital equipment sales process by providing technical expertise to enhance machine tool user productivity. The position involves working with various internal departments to ensure customer satisfaction and follow-up. The company serves manufacturers of precision machined parts in the New England states, northern New Jersey, and eastern New York, aiming to help them maintain a competitive edge through improved productivity.

Requirements

  • Engineering Degree (or related field) preferred with 3+ years of applicable experience.
  • Intermediate to sophisticated knowledge of CNC machine technology and applications.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to interpret instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Deep-seated desire to win in a competitive marketplace.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to excel in a team environment as well as when working independently.
  • Strategic approach to work and creativity for solving challenges.

  • Able to perform bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and lifting of moderate to heavyweight material up to 50 lbs. with assistance from equipment or other employees.

  • Vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work responsibly and professionally in dynamic job sites that may involve tight timelines, changing priorities, and interaction with customers and team members.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach for extended periods while servicing equipment.
  • Ability to work in tight spaces or awkward positions, including accessing equipment interiors and elevated areas.
  • Strong hand–eye coordination and fine motor skills required for precise electrical, mechanical, and diagnostic work.
  • Ability to work in industrial environments, with exposure to noise, lubricants, coolants, metal chips, and other manufacturing conditions, while consistently wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Salesforce or another CRM is a plus.
  • A valid US Passport is a plus.
  • Public speaking and/or product presentation experience.
  • CMTSE Certification.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Lean Manufacturing training/experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical information to support the capital equipment sales process and improve user productivity.
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships, ensuring needs are met from pre-sales to project completion.
  • Actively review customer processes and report through Salesforce.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the machine tool industry and company product lines.
  • Support tooling and machine accessory projects within a sales territory, becoming a knowledge base for associated products.
  • Develop solutions for process optimization and manage related projects from concept to completion.
  • Participate in continuous education, meetings, seminars, and training sessions.
  • Cultivate a sales territory to generate revenue.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to customers and capital sales account managers to resolve issues.
  • Maintain a high degree of integrity and professionalism.
  • Perform related duties as required.
