About The Position

This role is responsible for the maintenance, setup, and preventative care of CNC machinery and precision equipment, including tube mills, fin presses, form rolling machines, benders, and the embossing mill. The primary goals are to ensure uptime and reliability of equipment. This involves troubleshooting mechanical equipment, performing preventive maintenance, and executing work orders according to specifications. The technician will also be involved in general facilities maintenance, coordinating with external suppliers, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives for PM instructions and schedules. Troubleshooting of hydraulics, electronics, software, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems is a key part of the role. Additionally, the technician will participate in 6S activities, capital equipment project launches, training, and documentation of completed work. They are expected to report near misses and accidents and assist with investigations. Periodic adjustment of working hours may be necessary depending on workload, and hands-on direct labor may be required. Maintaining positive and professional behavior and owning equipment efficiently are paramount.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent, is required.
Minimum of three year of experience in performing maintenance of CNC machines.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) plus 10+ years of CNC maintenance experience.
Thorough understanding of electrical theory, application, and troubleshooting.
Thorough understanding of machine shop equipment.
Thorough understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics.
Use, read, and comprehend a tape measure to within 1/32”, is required.

Nice To Haves

Basic welding experience is preferred.
Bilingual (English/Spanish), is preferred.
Knowledge of OEM machine controllers.
Working knowledge of tool Probing function for CNC Mill Machines.
Able to work with complex NC machines up to & including 4 Axis.

Responsibilities

Ensure the maintenance, setup, and preventative care of CNC machinery and precision equipment, including tube mills, fin presses, form rolling machines, benders, and the embossing mill.
Achieve uptime and reliability as primary goals of day-to-day activities.
Troubleshoot mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
Communicate all issues, ideas, and improvements to all team members.
Execute and comply with all safety standards.
Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing work orders following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications.
Perform mechanical repairs (and rebuild) on all machines.
Pull and replace machine linear guides and ball screws.
Support with scheduling PM, reading reports, diagrams, and drawings.
Perform machine leveling and alignment on all machines.
Identify and replace parts as necessary.
Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machine tool equipment and controls.
Use machine tool manuals, technical documents, and internal and vendor resources to research machine issues.
Perform general facilities maintenance.
Coordinate with external suppliers and maintenance companies to ensure timely and accurate completion of work.
Work based on a sense of urgency with machine-down conditions.
Support continuous improvement of the development of PM instructions and schedules to prevent failures.
Troubleshoot hydraulics, electronics, software, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
Participate in 6S activities when necessary.
Take part in capital equipment project launches both mechanically and procedurally.
Act as both trainer and trainee on a multitude of machines depending on proficiency.
Document completed work via work order notes, drawings, bill of material updates, or other pertinent job information.
Report near misses and recordable accidents within the team and assist with accident investigations when called upon.
Periodically adjust working hours depending on workload.
May perform other duties as assigned, including hands-on direct labor when necessary.
Maintain positive and professional behavior daily.

Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, using precision measuring and testing instruments.
Remove defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examine form and texture of parts.
Fabricate repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Participate in team and shop business problem-solving activities that include quality, safety, scrap reduction, and process improvements.
Attend related training courses as scheduled.
Follow all related written and oral work instructions.
May perform other duties as assigned.
