About The Position

This role involves the maintenance, setup, and preventative care of CNC machinery and precision equipment, including tube mills, fin presses, form rolling machines, benders, and the embossing mill. The primary goals are to ensure uptime and reliability of equipment. Responsibilities include troubleshooting mechanical equipment, performing preventive maintenance, communicating issues and ideas to the team, and complying with all safety standards. The technician will execute work orders, perform mechanical repairs and rebuilds, manage machine linear guides and ball screws, support PM scheduling, and work with complex NC machines up to 4 Axis. They will also perform machine leveling and alignment, identify and replace parts, troubleshoot hydraulics, electronics, software, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems, and participate in 6S activities and capital equipment project launches. The role requires documenting completed work, reporting near misses and accidents, and potentially adjusting working hours based on workload. The technician will act as both trainer and trainee and may perform direct labor tasks as needed, while maintaining positive and professional behavior. Owning equipment efficiently is paramount to the success of the department and the plant.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent, is required.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in performing maintenance of CNC machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) plus 10+ years of CNC maintenance experience.
  • Thorough understanding of electrical theory, application, and troubleshooting.
  • Thorough understanding of machine shop equipment.
  • Thorough understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Use, read, and comprehend a tape measure to within 1/32”, is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic welding experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish), is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the maintenance, setup, and preventative care of CNC machinery and precision equipment, including tube mills, fin presses, form rolling machines, benders, and the embossing mill.
  • Troubleshooting mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Communicating and over-communicating all issues, ideas, and improvements to all team members.
  • Executing and complying with all safety standards required by Evapco.
  • Ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing work orders following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications.
  • Performing mechanical repairs (and rebuild) on all machines.
  • Pulling and replacing machine linear guides and ball screws.
  • Supporting with scheduling PM, reading reports, diagrams, and drawings.
  • Performing machine leveling and alignment on all machines.
  • Identifying and replacing parts as necessary.
  • Installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining machine tool equipment and controls.
  • Using machine tool manuals, technical documents, and internal and vendor resources to research machine issues.
  • Performing general facilities maintenance.
  • Coordinating with external suppliers and maintenance companies to ensure timely and accurate completion of work.
  • Working based on a sense of urgency with machine-down conditions.
  • Supporting continuous improvement of the development of PM instructions and schedules to prevent failures.
  • Troubleshooting hydraulics, electronics, software, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Participating in 6S activities when necessary.
  • Taking part in capital equipment project launches both mechanically and procedurally.
  • Acting as both trainer and trainee on a multitude of machines depending on proficiency.
  • Documenting completed work via work order notes, drawings, bill of material updates, or other pertinent job information.
  • Reporting near misses and recordable accidents within the team and assisting with accident investigations when called upon.
  • Periodically adjusting working hours depending on workload.
  • Performing other duties as assigned, including hands-on direct labor when necessary.
  • Maintaining positive and professional behavior daily.
  • Ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Locating sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Removing defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  • Fabricating repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Maintaining equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
  • Conserving maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Participating in team and shop business problem-solving activities that include quality, safety, scrap reduction, and process improvements.
  • Attending related training courses as scheduled.
  • Following all related written and oral work instructions.
