Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of experience in a metal fabricating environment with knowledge of machining.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, use standard precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and check threads.
  • Basic understanding of metals and alloys.
  • Proficient in common arithmetic operations and geometry calculations.
  • Possess analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and troubleshoot issues effectively.
  • Must be effective in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push, and pull.
  • Continuous standing and/or walking.
  • Moderate physical effort - working frequently with average weights of ten to fifty pounds or continuously with lighter weights.
  • Good eye/hand/foot coordination and good visual acuity - cannot be colorblind.
  • Ability to work in a cold, hot, and/or dusty environment, with noisy conditions.
  • Must be able to become forklift certified.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, configure, and operate CNC lathe/mill machines.
  • Load materials into the machine and secure them properly.
  • Select and install appropriate cutting tools based on job requirements and specific materials.
  • Monitor tool wear and make tool changes as needed to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Inspect finished parts for accuracy, quality, and adherence to specifications.
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions.
  • Input program codes and adjust as necessary to ensure accurate machining.
  • Study drawings, schematics, engineering information, or sample parts to determine product dimensions and tolerances, as well as the best method and sequence of operations needed for fabrication.
  • Collaborate with QC, engineering, and production on a daily basis.
  • Work closely with the production team to ensure schedule and delivery deadlines are met.
  • Provide "G" codes as necessary for programming numeric controlled machines using FANUC or similar controls.
  • Identify and address issues related to machine malfunctions or deviations from specifications.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to share insights and coordinate tasks.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure and safe working environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of machine settings, issues, tool changes, and production data.
  • Seek opportunities to improve efficiency and optimize machining processes.
  • Stay updated on advancements in CNC technology and machining techniques.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior machinists or new team members.
  • Share knowledge and best practices with colleagues to enhance the overall skill level of the team.
  • Execute various tasks, as assigned by your manager, supervisor, or company officer, whether within your standard duties or as requested beyond regular responsibilities.
