About The Position

The CNC Set-Up & Programming Technician is responsible for setting up, programming, and optimizing CNC machines within the Tool Room to support tooling, prototyping, and production needs. This role plays a key part in developing new tooling programs, refining machining processes, and ensuring high-quality output for both new and existing products. This position works closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to support continuous improvement initiatives, troubleshoot machining issues, and maintain efficient, safe operations in the Tool Room.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 3+ years of CNC machining experience, preferably in a Tool Room or prototype environment
  • 2+ years of CNC programming experience required
  • Strong understanding of G-code/M-code programming
  • Experience working with tight tolerances and precision tooling
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical specifications
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Effective communication skills; ability to read, write, and comprehend English
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with medium to large machinery
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • technical degree or certification in CNC machining or related field preferred
  • Proficiency in Mastercam (or similar CAM software) strongly preferred
  • Spanish is a plus
  • Leadership or mentoring experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Program, modify, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam and M/G code.
  • Set up CNC machines and tooling according to Tool Room and production schedules.
  • Support new product development by programming prototype and production tooling while working with Tool design and engineering. Other components include needs to keep other departments running, replacement parts and repairs. Keeping the plant running.
  • Troubleshoot machining and programming issues; make real-time adjustments to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Perform component inspections and in-process quality checks; adjust programs and tooling as needed.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications to ensure accurate machining.
  • Collaborate with our CNC team, to complete project goals.
  • Maintain organized documentation for programs, tooling setups, and process standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep of CNC machines and Tool Room equipment.
  • Support continuous improvement, cost reduction, and safety initiatives within the department.
  • Provide feedback on process improvements and equipment needs to leadership.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. In example work on manual machines when work is available.
