About The Position
The Pivot Group Network is building a network of CNC Swiss Lathe Operators for manufacturers in and around Iron River, Michigan, including Amasa and Crystal Falls. The network covers locations within approximately 45 minutes of Iron River. Partner companies may not have an immediate opening, but the network reaches out when current or future opportunities align with a candidate’s goals. These opportunities involve setting up and operating CNC Swiss lathes for production, supporting quality-focused manufacturing, and completing inspections and production documentation. Requirements
- Experience operating CNC Swiss lathes in a machine shop.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and use precision measuring tools.
- Familiarity with G-code and machine controls.
- Attention to detail and ability to hold tight tolerances.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift bar stock.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of GD&T and SPC.
- Experience with multi-axis or mill-turn equipment.
- Trade school certificate in machining.
- Experience with Citizen or Star Swiss machines.
- Ability to write or edit programs at the control.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC Swiss lathes for production runs.
- Load bar stock and monitor tool wear during machining.
- Read blueprints and inspect parts to tolerance using calipers and micrometers.
- Adjust offsets and make program edits to maintain dimensions.
- Perform first-article inspections and document results.
- Change tools and perform routine machine maintenance.
- Track production counts and complete run paperwork.
- Follow shop-floor safety and quality procedures.
