About The Position

The CNC Setup Operator is responsible for setting up and operating CNC machining equipment to produce quality parts that meet engineering specifications and production requirements. This role supports manufacturing and maintenance operations by preparing machines for production runs, verifying setup accuracy, and ensuring parts meet dimensional and functional standards. The CNC Setup Operator must work safely, follow established procedures, and maintain equipment and work areas in accordance with company and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Associates or certificate in CNC related program.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of CNC setup and operation experience or equivalent vocational/technical training.
  • Working knowledge of CNC mills and lathes (HAAS or similar).
  • Proficient navigating HAAS Next Generation Controls, offsets, WCS, setting, alarms, machine diagnosis.
  • Ability to independently set up and operate CNC mills and lathes with minimal supervision.
  • Accuracy of setups and consistency of produced parts meeting specifications.
  • Knowledge of CNC machine operation, tooling, and setup processes.
  • Adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Ability to make offset adjustments, tool geometry corrections, and process refinements to consistently hold print requirements.
  • Proven ability to independently set up new and repeat jobs, including workholding, tooling, probing, and program verification.
  • Able to read engineering drawings, understand tolerances, datums, geometric controls, critical to quality features.
  • Skilled in selecting, installing, and validating appropriate fixturing solutions to ensure part stability and repeatability.
  • Knowledge of cutting tools, insert selection, speeds, feeds, chip control, and tool life optimization.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis and must not require The Coca-Cola Company's sponsorship to continue to work legally in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up CNC mills and lathes for production by loading programs, setting zero reference points, and verifying tool offsets.
  • Installs and adjusts workholding devices such as three- and four-jaw chucks, collets, vises, bushings, and fixtures.
  • Loads and changes cutting tools; installs tools in tool holders and offsets tools in the CNC machine.
  • Uses precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify part dimensions.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, specifications, and shop travelers to ensure accurate setup.
  • Verifies machine setup by inspecting first-article and in-process parts to ensure conformance to print.
  • Makes minor offset adjustments as required to maintain part quality.
  • Monitors machine operation during production runs to ensure consistent performance and quality.
  • Identifies and reports machine malfunctions, tooling issues, or quality concerns to supervision or maintenance.
  • Performs basic troubleshooting related to setup, tooling, or part quality.
  • Assists with material selection and preparation for production runs.
  • Performs basic machine care and routine checks per established procedures.
  • Maintains clean, organized, and safe work areas and equipment.
  • Follows all safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • Communicates inventory or tooling needs to appropriate personnel.
