About The Position

Eaton’s Aerospace Division is currently seeking a CNC Setup Machinist on 3rd Shift at our Charleston, SC facility. Relocation is offered on this role. The core hours for third shift are 11:00 pm - 7:00 am Monday - Friday. The rate for this position is $$26.50-$29/hr + $2.50/hr shift differential. This position is currently offering a sign-on bonus of $3,000; less applicable withholding. Salaries are based on candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years experience operating CNC lathes and/or mills in a manufacturing or operations environment; OR an Associate's degree or higher in machining or manufacturing related discipline.
  • A minimum of one (1) years experience setting up CNC lathes and/or mills.
  • This position requires access to export-controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, applicant must be a U.S. person, defined as a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158.
  • Candidate must reside within 50 miles of Charleston, SC; or be willing to reside within this region, to be considered for this role.
  • Must currently live within the United States.
  • Able to understand and interpret blueprints and sketches including proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Able to perform basic shop math.
  • A demonstrated mechanical aptitude.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical degree in manufacturing, machining, or related field
  • Experience operating a variety of manual machines (lathes, mills, jig bore, grinders, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the transition/changeover between production runs on various CNC machines such as mills and lathes.
  • Operate select machines through the remainder of the production run while ensuring quality parts from the work cell.
  • Properly set tools in machine locations required for set-up & perform part changeover including program retrieval and input.
  • Establish work offsets (G54, G55, etc.) manually and utilizing probing technology.
  • Read, understand, and reset CNC machine program codes.
  • Calculate and input axis coordinates for CNC machines up to 3 axis’s or use spindle probe to determine work offsets.
  • Calculate and input axis coordinates X, Y and Z or use spindle probe to determine work offsets.
  • Utilize Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing results to make adjustments to work offsets.
