About The Position

The CNC Set Up Operator is responsible for operating CNC machines, performing setups across multiple machines and disciplines, and ensuring that components meet product and customer design specifications. This role involves troubleshooting machine errors, performing quality inspections, and assisting with machine operator training. The position also requires adherence to safety programs, company initiatives like 5S and Continuous Improvement, and effective communication with team members and supervisors.

Requirements

  • 3+ years machine operation required
  • Basic computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that safety is always the number one priority at Alexandria Industries; promote and support a safe work environment and safety-oriented culture by following all safety programs and guidelines
  • Operate CNC machines and perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner in alignment with company policies
  • Set up machines across multiple machines, areas within the shop, and/or disciplines (i.e. robotics).
  • Perform necessary cpk studies, first article inspections, and/or PPAP processes per company or customer requirements
  • Assist with CNC machine operator training as assigned
  • Troubleshoot machine errors and part variances, and suggest improvements to improve productivity
  • Read and follow instructions on manufacturing orders and blueprints to ensure that components meet product and customer design specifications
  • Perform quality inspections using precision measurement devices to ensure all parts meet specifications
  • Accurately use all measurement tools and hand tools as needed
  • Load programs into CMM machines
  • Provide machine shop support; deburring, tumbling, packing, assembly, punching, bending, etc. as needed
  • Perform basic machine maintenance as needed; clean out chips, monitor coolant levels, etc.
  • Follow all company initiatives in the areas of 5S, Continuous Improvement and Safety
  • Communicate effectively with supervisor, team members and other shifts as needed to ensure efficient and successful completion of customer orders
  • Understand and ensure department goals are being met
  • Operate manual machining equipment as needed
  • Cross train within the machine shop to learn and develop skills on a variety of machines and equipment
