The Dixon Group is seeking a skilled CNC Set-Up Machinist to join their Houston manufacturing team. This role is ideal for an experienced machinist who takes pride in precision, enjoys problem-solving, and thrives in a collaborative shop environment. The CNC Set-Up Machinist will play a key role in producing high-quality metal components that meet demanding specifications while working with modern CNC technology. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training strongly preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC machinery
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions
  • Working knowledge of G-code
  • Proficiency using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail with solid math and reading skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Mazatrol programming and controls
  • Prior experience in a high-volume or precision manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, and operate CNC lathes according to job requirements and engineering drawings
  • Load and verify CNC programs; troubleshoot and make minor program edits as needed
  • Monitor machining processes and make tool and offset adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency
  • Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments to ensure conformance to specifications
  • Identify machining issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean, organized work area
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures and work safely around equipment and coworkers
  • Rotate between machines or assignments as production needs require
  • Collaborate with team members and participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives
