About The Position

John Boos & Co. is accepting applications for CNC Machine Operators - 2nd Shift in our WOOD manufacturing facility. The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for operating the computer numerical control (CNC) machine to cut, shape, and drill wood components according to production specifications. This position ensures accurate machining, maintains production efficiency, and adheres to quality and safety standards in a manufacturing environment. Who is John Boos? Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, and work instructions.
  • Basic computer skills for machine interface and program selection.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control.
  • Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and squares.
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during shift.
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and material handling.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, dust, and moving equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience operating CNC machinery in a wood, cabinetry, millwork, or panel manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC routers and machining centers used in the production of wood components.
  • Load raw materials onto the machine.
  • Read and interpret production drawings, work orders, and specifications.
  • Set up machine parameters including tooling, offsets, and program selection.
  • Monitor machine operations to ensure proper cutting, drilling, and shaping of parts.
  • Inspect finished components to verify accuracy, quality, and conformance to specifications.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance such as cleaning, lubrication, and tool changes.
  • Identify and report machine malfunctions, quality issues, or material defects.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Assist with material handling and movement of finished parts as needed.
