About The Position

The CNC Router Operator (Plastics) is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC routing machines to cut and shape plastic materials such as acrylic, polycarbonate, PVC, and other composites. This role ensures high-quality production while maintaining safety, precision, and efficiency standards.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Experience operating CNC routers or similar machinery preferred
Familiarity with plastic materials (acrylic, polycarbonate, PVC, etc.) is a plus
Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
Basic math and measurement skills
Strong attention to detail and quality
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods

Nice To Haves

Basic knowledge of CNC programming (G-code)
Experience with CAD/CAM software (AutoCAD, Fusion 360, or similar)
Understanding of cutting speeds/feeds specific to plastics
Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC router machines to cut plastic materials per job specifications
Load, position, and secure plastic sheets or components on the machine
Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and CAD drawings
Adjust machine settings (speed, feed rate, tooling) based on material type and thickness
Select appropriate cutting tools for plastics to prevent melting, chipping, or warping
Monitor machine operations and make adjustments as needed for quality and accuracy
Inspect finished parts using measuring tools to ensure they meet specifications
Perform trimming, deburring, and finishing of plastic components
Conduct routine machine maintenance and cleaning
Troubleshoot minor issues and report major concerns to the supervisor
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
