About The Position

Responsible for ensuring efficient, accurate, and timely operations within the department by overseeing workflow, supporting staff, and maintaining production standards. Key duties include completing quote packages for estimating, ensuring work orders are processed systematically, and maintaining NC machine programs to support production needs. Promotes and utilizes standard safety practices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC multi axis machining
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in 2 and 3 axis lathes
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Mastercam programming
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience
  • Ability to communicate machine problems, quality issues and other concerns or questions to departmental management
  • Strong math skills
  • Must be quality conscious
  • Ability to use and interpret precision measurement equipment
  • Ability to interpret aircraft blueprints and engineering
  • Ability to interpret specs
  • Ability to interpret mylars
  • Ability to interpret GD&T
  • Knowledge of CNC tooling, ie end mills, drill bits, reamers, etc.
  • Ability to use various/basic hand tools

Responsibilities

  • Complete quote packages for estimating in a timely manner
  • Assure all work orders are processed in an orderly, systematic manner to meet customer quantity requirements and time frames
  • Monitors and maintains programs for all NC controlled machines
  • Monitor daily workflow throughout entire shift to monitor goals and troubleshoot with upper management, as necessary
  • Enforces company policies
  • Provide back-up coverage for positions in the department
  • Enforce safety policies and practices to minimize risk and avoid workplace accidents.
  • Ensures staff has the supplies and resources needed
  • Oversees employee training and strategically plans training for back up coverages, including maintain up to date SOPs.
  • Assure the maintaining of a clean, orderly work environment
  • Oversee staff performance management, provide feedback and conduct performance reviews to foster professional growth.
  • Assist in troubleshooting of equipment and machines
  • Report damaged/down equipment and maintenance repairs in a timely fashion
  • Will run 3 and 4 axis machines
  • Will blend and deburr own parts as needed
  • Does own setups and may assist others with set-ups
  • Checks first part to ensure quality before getting a QA first part buy
  • Maintains clear and concise communication with all supervision verbally and handwritten tie in notes at the machines
  • Maintain daily part run averages located inside each set-up book
  • Maintain a clean workstation including cleaning the inside and outside of machines at end of shift
  • Will run 2 axis and multi axis lathes
  • Prepares operating programs on continuous path and point-to-point numerically controlled machinery
  • Creates set-up documents, tool lists, machining instructions
  • Maintains existing programs
  • Will implement continuous improvements of all programs
  • Prepares and checks programs, edits as necessary
  • Instructs machine operators in the use of equipment
  • Assists machinists with machining processes, programs, set-up, edits as needed and creates tooling.
  • Works with the Estimating Dept. to quote/ requote new and existing parts
